A Modest Proposal – Redux
For preventing the unfortunate occupants of Gaza from being a burden on the world and for making them beneficial to the public.
It is a melancholy sight to those who wander through the streets of Gaza or Rafa, or travel in the countryside, to see the alleys, roads and open doors crowded with refugees, most of whom are malnourished, especially the children who are but stick figures. This population, rather than being able to work for their honest livelihood are forced to spend all their time waiting for food aid from foreign sources that hardly ever comes. The children succumb first, then the women, then the men.
It would seem that little benefit can come from such ill fortune, but there are few negatives that cannot be turned to good and so it is in this case.
The land of Gaza sits on a sunny Mediterranean coast. The land has been mostly denuded of population and is open to exploitation by the cleverer and more energetic among us1.
Beautiful beachfront properties and quiet neighborhoods are what await you as you explore these opportunities. And there is great advantage in having only congenial neighbors, the previous inhabitants having been dispersed.
One inconvenience is the fact that further from the beach are enormous cemeteries that would have to be dealt with if redevelopment is intended. But every obstacle has a silver lining. Bones, flesh and blood, much of which has already turned to dust, make excellent fertilizer; fertilizer that is definitely needed in this arid, sandy soil. One cubic yard of cemetery fill dirt would be plenty, when thoroughly worked into existing sand, to establish lawns, gardens and olive groves.
If there are any of the sad creatures who previously inhabited the land still found there, they can be dealt with summarily and turned to socially beneficial uses as well. For instance, the value of small children as food stock has been dealt with in depth by Jonathan Swift in a previous document2 and need not be reconsidered here.
In sum, there is great opportunity awaiting you for relaxation in the sun or, if your means permit, financial exploitation of Gaza beachfront property.

"...each of Biden's Irish American ancestors were "famine Irish." They came to the U.S. between 1848 and 1855 to escape the Irish Potato Famine…" https://www.usatoday.com/story/graphics/2023/04/12/joe-biden-family-tree/11640997002/
This is the first time, however, that Joe has personally imposed a famine. It does seem odd that Joe Biden, no doubt having heard at least some generational tales of The Hunger in Ireland, is choosing to inflict an equal destiny or worse upon the long-suffering Gazans. But perhaps the stories were lost or diluted over time. Also, Joe is American as well as descended from the Irish, and both the Irish and the Americans have our fair share of sycophants, toadies and lickspittles.

Not sure hilarious is the apt word in response to your piece, but good work getting the right tone. The Kushner-Trumps are inspiring in their inhumanity.
